چکیده

In this paper, we initiate a theoretical study of the problem of clustering data under interactive feedback. We introduce a query-based model in which users can provide feedback to a clustering algorithm in a natural way via split and merge requests. We then analyze the “clusterability” of different concept classes in this framework — the ability to cluster correctly with a bounded number of requests under only the assumption that each cluster can be described by a concept in the class — and provide efficient algorithms as well as information-theoretic upper

The Impact of Task-supported Interactive Feedback on the Accuracy, Fluency, and Organization of Iranian EFL Learners’ Writing

Controversy has not been yet resolved among researchers in second language research over the pedagogical efficacy of feedback in enhancing various features of learners’ writing skill. Research findings highlighting the significance of interactive tasks and learners’ engagement in improving the learning process stimulated the present study, the purpose of which was to explore the effect of task-...

The Impact of Three Feedback Types on Postgraduate TEFL Student Teachers’ Writing Accuracy and Organization

One skill that student teachers need to develop during their academic studies is the capacity to produce accurate and well-organized texts. This study reports on the comparative impact of metalinguistic feedback (MLF), teacher interactive feedback (TIF(, and the peer-feedback (PF) on the accuracy and organization of postgraduate ELT student teachers’ writing. The participants were 57 postgradua...

Document Similarity Judgment for Interactive Document Clustering

This paper investigates the task of document similarity judgment for interactive document clustering. We suppose one of the promising approaches for developing next generation of web search engines is to incorporate user feedback mechanism into constrained clustering. As a basis for designing such search engines, it is important to study the interface design that can reduce user' burden of givi...

Clustering with a Reject Option: Interactive Clustering as Bayesian Prior Elicitation

A good clustering can help a data analyst to explore and understand a data set, but what constitutes a good clustering may depend on domain-specific and application-specific criteria. These criteria can be difficult to formalize, even when it is easy for an analyst to know a good clustering when they see one. We present a new approach to interactive clustering for data exploration called TINDER...
